Dolce is a modern, elegant Italian restaurant. The décor is mid-century modern inspired and tries to replicate the feel of Fellini’s Rome of the 1960s. This restaurant was featured on Best New Restaurant ( Bravo TV’s show and it was named America’s Best New Restaurant on the first season) for having some of the best pizza around. It is also known for its delicious red sauces and homemade pasta. The chef, Paolo Dorigato, comes straight from Italy cooking all across the country. Menu items: broccoli e salsiccia pizza, scaloppini al limone, pea tortelli, beef carpaccio, tuna crudo, tiramisu, budino alla Nutella, and more. Breakfast and lunch are also served here. Prices range from $8 to $38.
MACCHIALINA TAVERNA RUSTICA | 820 Alton Road
The small (70 seats) Italian eatery is known for its red sauces, fresh pasta, and a great cocktail menu. This restaurant features bold and seasonally inspired menu items from chef Michael Pirolo. He uses simple and fresh ingredients with rustic accents. The dining room décor has brick walls, turfed leather banquettes, and wooden tables. The bar is a great spot for their tasty drinks, snacks, and meals. Some menu items include: Beet mezzaluna, spaghetti vongole, veal Milanese, creamy polenta, a meat board, cavatelli macchialina, lasagna, and porchetta. Prices range from $5 to $50.
