South Beach Festivals & Events in March

March is a big month in South Beach. People all over the country flock to the city for Spring Break, or just to get away from the cold back home. The obvious choice of something to do in South Beach is going to the beach, of course, but a great thing not to miss out on is the variety of South Beach festivals in the area. From food and drinks to music and dancing, these hot festivals give visitors and locals a taste of different culture, while entertaining them all day and night. Here’s a look at some great South Beach festivals in March.

Carnaval Miami: Feb 20 – March 26

Looking to experience some Latin culture? Carnaval Miami is one of the largest Latin cultural celebrations in the states. Since 1978, the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana has organized the event. This month-long event is full of events including Calle Ocho, a street festival that stretches 19 blocks. The block party is filled with Latin music and dance performers and hudreds of food kiosks. Other events throughout the month are: Miss Carnval Miami, Carnaval on the Mile (an art festival), a soccer challenge, domino tournament, cooking content, Kiwanis Golf Classic, and Cork & Fork, a food and wine tasting. Actor Andy Garcia is this year’s King of Carnaval Miami 2016 and will perform.

Flamenco Festival Miami: March 2-13 

World-renowned Flamenco performers come together each year to put on amazing shows at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. In the two weeks, six shows will be performed by Vicente Amigo, Farruquito, Rubalcaba & Fernandez, Ballet Flamenco de Andalucia, Compania Rocio Molina and Compania Manuel Linan. Performances include southern Spanish sounds, Gypsy Flamenco dance and more. Package deals for the show start at $85 and go up to $190.

Bacardi Miami Sailing Week: March 6 – 12

Sailing teams from across the globe come to Miami for this multi-class regatta on Biscayne Bay to compete for the Bacardi Cup and BMSW regatta trophy. This is the event’s sixth year. If you have a love or boats and sailing of just have a competitive nature, it’s truly a sight to see the teams racing across the water. The festival works on having a cultural tie-in and have an art exhibit. This year, they teamed up with a Florida boat builder and created a Shellback sailboat and will set up a temporary boat-building shed in CocoWalk. Italian artist Roberto Fiorento will feature his collection of his sailing-inspired work in CocoWalk in a popup “WeGallery.”

Miami International Film Festival: March 4 – March 13

The 33rd annual Miami International Film Festival will screen hundreds of films, including documentaries, dramas, and shorts from 40 countries. A ticket costs $13 to see one film. The event is held by the Miami Dade College. Films will be screened at different hotels, theaters, historic buildings and cinemas in the area.
