Workout in South Beach
Want to workout on your vacation or weekend getaway? Even away from home, many people choose to still be active and stick to their exercise regiments. According to Travel + Leisure magazine, Miami was rated the number one most attractive city in the United States, so there’s no shortage of ways to workout in South Beach. Like the magazine said, “the Florida city is tanned, rested and suitably blinged-out…looking good at all hours is essential.”
Whether you’re looking to lift weights, go for a run, or try a fitness class you’ve never taken before, South Beach has plenty of options for you to burn some calories and feel good during your stay.
Workout in South Beach Outside
An outdoor workout in South Beach? Seems like a no brainer. Being in a warmer client, it’s easy for someone to run out the door and use the city as his or her personal jungle gym.
For a cardio workout, running, bicycling and swimming are easy options. One option is to run on the beach, but this type of running can be very challenging to the legs as they have to trudge through the sand. For a paved ground, there is an eight-mile beach path that begins at 5th street and goes up to 22nd Street that turns into a boardwalk all the way up to 49th street. For a group running environment, check out Raven Run. Raven Run is an eight-mile run that happens every day in South Beach at the 5th Street Lifeguard Station; this run is led by Robert Kraft, who has run eight miles every day in South Beach since 1975. South Pointe Park, Lummus Park and the Miami Beach Boardwalk are two other great spots to run.
Bicyclists are seen all over South Beach. Whether you rent a bike from a local Citi Bike docking station or a local shop like Bike and Roll Miami or bring your own bike, you can easily get around. Although there aren’t designated bike paths in the area, people can bike throughout the city. South Pointe Park and Lummus Park with their views of the Atlantic Ocean are great place to cruise around for your workout.
Swimming can be a very strenuous workout, but also very fun. The Ocean, just steps away from you stay at a South Beach hotel, is the easiest option. The water is warm and the surroundings are picturesque. If swimming in salt water isn’t your thing, South Beach has a public pool, the Flamingo Park Pool, on Michigan Avenue. If you like the water, but don’t want to swim, paddle boarding and kayaking offer a fun and challenging total-body workout in South Beach. Miami Beach Paddle Board, South Beach Kayak, and TKS Miamia offer rentals and lessons.
For an ultimate body workout, Lummus Park have volleyball nets, pull up bars, dip bars and an incline bench for sit ups.
